Would You Run The Mont Blanc Ultra?

Mont Blanc is the world’s most famous trail race with a distance of 170km and a total elevation gain of around 9,600m. With its dizzying ridges and stunning views, Mont Blanc is home to some of the world’s best trail running.  The fastest runners will complete it in under 24 hours. For a week at the end of August each year, the town of Chamonix in the French Alps is completely taken over by ultra-runners and their supporters. What do you think LiveTribers? Would you run the Mont Blanc Ultra?

At the moment, I am a couch potato and so unfit that I wouldn't run anywhere!

there's no way in hell that I'd run Mont Blanc, I watch the Tour de France on Tv and that is enough for me to know that it's for super fit people that are a little bit crazy

I know my limitations but I do admire anyone who can do it. I would love to be a spectator :)

It is certainly an inspiring event with beautiful scenery, but no I wouldn't run in it because I am more of a walker.

It would be a huge experience in a spectacular region - but the training would be intense, not sure I could dedicate the time

As much as a challenge like that would be a delight to complete, the old knees would not allow the rest of the body to complete.

Definitely not, I would struggle to compete a 1KM run so this is definitely out of the question. Although a drive by car would be nice.

You would have to do a lot of training to prepare for it and climb heights to properly prepare for it. If I did it, I would walk it. It would take a lot of preparation. No, I don't think I would run it, as it would require a huge amount of training before I could do the run.

My forte is endurance not speed so I think I would rather walk it and take in the scenery slowly.

I love France and I love being given a challenge but at 79 my running days are long past. To be truthful I couldn't have competed even in my youth as I suffer bronchiectasis and so would be out of breath just being on the mountain. What an exciting challenge for the fit, healthy and young!
