Why Is Australia Criminalising Disabled Children?

Australia is criminalising disabled children and allegedly keeping them “in so called cages” with no windows and no fresh air for up to six weeks at a time in police watch houses, according to Australia’s national children’s commissioner. “It seems the only thing we do in this country for kids with disabilities who have been failed by every other system, including health and education, is criminalise them,” Anne Hollonds told Guardian Australia. “It’s absolutely abominable.” “I had no idea that in Australia we do this to children until I went there myself,” Hollonds said. What are your thoughts LiveTribers? Why is Australia criminalising disabled children?

It's the kid's upbringing , poverty, drug abuse, family abuse, woke judiciary and by the time the child is 10 their future and personality is set.....very few drag themselves out of this and often die prematurely. It's heartbreaking for them and most of our society. And the only solution is better parenting and that's the really comlpex hard part . A prime example of a failed community is Alice Springs and is unlikely to get better until practical removals again as in the so called Stolen Generation is enacted!

That sounds completely untrue if anything we are too soft on crime especially when it’s children. We desperately need to go back to teaching children respect and strong discipline.

This article and it's headlines are completely misleading and written to shock people into some kind of action! A lot more needs to be considered as even if these children have disabilities, who have they been let down by in the past. As someone who has advocated for people with disabilities for a very long time, I also recognise that along with human rights, comes responsibilities and accountabilities, so maybe we should look further into these children's backgrounds to see who they are, where they have come from and what sorts of supports they have been given before they have been locked up!

This is all so outrageously hyped to attack the Government and authorities doing their best to tackle the criminal misbehaviour of out of control juveniles. Why are they all classed as Disabled??? Please Live Tribe I am surprised you even posted this. Why am I answering ???

I don’t believe it! Why specifically “Disabled” children? I was raised in a strict household but never did I ever lose respect for my elders Sadly today this is where and why society is broken and society is to blame because of do gooders not knowing how much discipline improves the system and society and future generations Just imagine what sort of state we would be in if there was no discipline in our Armed Services and where it would lead us inevitably complete anarchy Just like our children of today

if this is happening as described why has there been nothing made public about it as there should be a big public outcry and a lot of publicity about it. in this day and age nothing seems to happen unless there is a protest or public outcry about it.

Worst survey panel. They suspended my account just 500 points away from my PayPal reward redemption. I requested them many times to reinstate my account, but they didn't. Reason is a big joke. I am holding multiple verified accounts. Actually, they wanted me to stop reward redemption before selling Livetribe to a new company.
