Why Has Australia Set To Become Home To Two New Giant Pandas?

A new pair of giant pandas have been offered to Adelaide Zoo in a swap for the popular duo who have called the zoo home for the past 15 years. Chinese Premier Li Qiang made the announcement at the zoo this morning, thanking South Australia for looking after Wang Wang and Fu Ni so well. "We will provide a new pair of equally beautiful, lovely and adorable pandas to the Adelaide Zoo". I'm sure they will be loved and taken good care of by the people of Adelaide, South Australia, and Australia." Zoos SA chief executive said visitation increased by 150,000 people in the first year of the panda's arrival, and the pair had continued to remain one of the most popular parts of the zoo 15 years on. What are your thoughts LiveTribers? Why has Australia set to become home to two new giant pandas?

Why doesn't China raise them instead of foreign countries?

Why does Australia have to pay for their bears? It's China's problem. Shouldn't the money go to saving our own native species? China has enough money to protect the pandas. Let them deal with their own issues.

E cause the SA community love having the pandas here and zoo life doesn’t seem to create any disadvantages for them. It would seem a hollow zoo without them and we do need the possibility of panda babies so we had to swap over.

My thoughts are that this is a good way to promote communication and relationships between our countries. Animal conservation is important and this is a positive step in creating cooperation and awareness. Pandas are so cute and funny to watch play. It's vital to put politics to one side and work together for all animals and our environment.

Australia isn't the world's keeper. We should look after only Aussie natives. Besides, it's a bit cruel Puting such large animals in zoos. If China looked after their own animals and environment properly then there would be no need for this. Silly idea!

This exchange is part of China’s “panda diplomacy,” aimed at strengthening international relations.

If the new pair do become parents, then imagine the visitation to the zoo then. I guess that's why they have done it, but I hate feeling beholden to the Chinese due to their current way of acting.

If South Australia has $1000000 a year to pay for a pair of Panda's then good luck to them.

I redeemed a $50 PayPal reward just over two months ago, still not received it, have emailed a couple of times, got a reply saying they were waiting for more funds to be cleared, then got reply to second email saying it would be paid by the 1st July 2024? Don't know what to believe now, and still getting emails for surveys, but currently not doing any offered, and if and when I get my reward payment to PayPal, I will be leaving this site as well..Seems to be happening with a lot of sites lately.

You can still use this site if you want, but you need to check out this one. It's consistent and you can earn quickly. It's popular. You get paid quickly. Some really high paying surveys too. heyPiggy.com

I did get mine, only after they kept messing with my points. Yeah, they need to pay everyone fairly. I can name a few other worthy sites.

While I've had issues with other sites, especially one large Australian site (not so pure), with surveys that crash, conveniently when submitted, and there's no survey record on your page. Payments aren't received or you get 3/4 of the way through a survey and suddenly you don't match their criteria I've found this site to be one of the better ones. Payments could be higher, IMO they are low but apart from 'Anna's' pointless and usually weird surveys I've no issues here.

Agree about this happening on other sites, but haven't found a problem with this site.

Why has Australia set to become home to two new giant pandas? So that our PM can suck up more to the Chinese, even more than he does currently, and get more photos of him taken by the press for his family album in a pointless attempt to look like he knows how to run a country - and failing badly.
