Why Are So Many People Relocating To South Australia?
Whether they’re coming from another state or a different country, tens
of thousands of people a year are finding a reason to make the move to South
Australia. With South Australia experiencing population growth from interstate
as well as overseas, you may know someone who has made the leap and moved down
south. South Australia is known for its festivals, supportive startup community,
renewable energy and world-class food and wine. What are your thoughts
LiveTribers? Why are so many people relocating to South Australia?
we did the reverse
born and bred there
we left and went to Qld
SA was too cold, stagnant, boring and with what our daughter wants to do after
school, she would be leaving sa so why not we all move now and the pathways
already at her fingertips
Wasn't aware of this. But I'd think it's because property may be the most
affordable there. I think quality of life would be pretty good and think they
have some great artisan produce there. But I'm pretty happy here in Perth, not
moving!
I have no idea why people are moving to SA. They may well have good wine but
they have the most expensive electricity in the country as well as the highest
unemployment.
Welcome to S.A. FOR a new life .... i am happy that i live here ! Early covid 19
was controlled very efficiently only few days of total strict quarantine because
the person movements were not clear . We were in quarantine but we still had
football gatherings [ as a test trial ]. Not so densely populated has space for
settling expansion at modest prices . Mild weather and mild storms not as
dangerous as in other states , not much rain .For me is a nice place to live not
too fast or sophisticated
It is still moving at a slower pace than the rest of Australia. Unfortunately
it is gaining speed every day and will soon be part of the rat race most of us
live in. A lovely place to visit & live at the moment.
Nice people, great food scene and pretty cool theatre scene, too. Love their
sport and what an amazing coastline!! What's not to like? Spent a few weeks
there last year, loved it. Could easily move there if my parents weren't so
reliant on me........
South Australia has the tranquility and balanced life where housing and everyday
costing is reasonable compared to NSW and Victoria. And with more people going
there, more job vacancies become available.
Not that I would want to live there, but it is cheap to buy housing and it is
still close enough to the east coast hubs and it is reasonably well served by
airlines.
I imagine it must have the cheapest real estate out of all of the capital cities
so perhaps it's a way for young people to get a foot on the property ladder.
I don't know if anyone who has relocated to SA. But I could see that new
arrivals to Australia could find the climate appealing if looking for warmth &
the scenic & slower lifestyle than Melbourne or Sydney
I think they are going there to find some where cheaper to live as every thing
is so expensive and some people get rated out of a place I certainly know we
have been. I don't think we will find any where cheaper than here as our rates
are under $900 a year. This is such a big saving especially when one lives on a
single pension for 2 people.
Many people have left Victoria and especially Melbourne after the corona virus
pandemic and Dan and most of his colleagues still being in power ( the ALP, the
Animal Justice Party and the Greens). The people in Melbourne endured the
world's longest and most strict lockdowns (5 lockdowns and a nightly curfew
where you had to be home by 8 pm every night). Most people were confined to
their homes for work and school. People in Melbourne were pushed to the very
limit. They were unable to see their friends and family for a long period of
time. 25% people in our street have sold their homes. About 50% people in the
street have moved. Most people have moved interstate to Queensland. Some have
gone to Tasmania or New South Wales. Many people's marriages collapsed, children
now don't want to go to school and many businesses have collapsed. Also the
health information for all these lockdowns has never been released. Yes, most
people left in frustration and were entirely sick of all the lockdowns, curfews
and the Victorian state government interfering in people's lives. We were unable
to play sport, go to church, go to work, go to school and even go to the shops
we normally went to. The only shops you could go to were the supermarkets,
chemists, bottle shops and petrol stations. These parties voted for the
lockdowns all these times.
I guess more and more people have the tendency to have a relaxed and laid-back
lifestyle because the pressure of modern society is getting greater. People
start realizing what life is true about.
I was born in SA and have always loved living here. I don't even care about
travelling because I'm content with the laid back style of living we have here.
I just hope we don't get too many people heading here.
I grew up there and it is small, easy to get around, and has consistent weather.
A bit more isolated and quiet. For some people, this would easily be attractive.
I did not know that was happening. I don't mind SA but could not possibly live
there. To me the east coast is the best but so many of the places are getting
far too big and are now so expensive to buy into it's a joke. I have recently
moved to Bowen in Queensland which is very affordable, laid back and has good
fishing. As long as you can handle the humidity in summer and have good air
conditioners it's not a bad place to live.
Most of my family live in Victoria but I have some in South Australia and have
visited many times. It is a wonderful place to visit and if it weren't for more
of my family living here, I would seriously consider moving there. I am not
surprised that people are moving there but I fear a surge in population will
spoil the state - better as it is!
South Australia is a more relaxed and friendlier place than Sydney so it makes
sense to move to SA. I lived in Sydney for a while and I would never live there
again.
It, has to be because it is so expensive to buy or rent in Sydney that Adelaide
is a more affordable option. I have never been there but this forum has piqued
my interest to visit.
More even climate with greater reliability of same weather across the same day.
Welcoming state full of friendly activities across all ages. The people of the
state embrace innovation and actively support community events of which there is
an abundance. Locals are friendly towards interstaters and support them in their
move.
Met a new neighbour and her partner and they came from Sydney because the rent
is cheaper. They didn't have jobs but both soon found work. This is a regional
area. I'm not sure renewable energy is a drawcard! A future problem, more
likely.
If it relates to Victoria it's to get away from dictator Dan who has bankrupted
Victoria and ruined it's credit rating causing rents to skyrocket and create one
of the highest numbers of homeless that Victoria has ever seen.
