Sort out the bottlenecks emanating from politically correct and often woke impractical hospital and Health Dept policies combined with unreasonable Union demands. The problem is with the transition of patients from Emergency Depts to medical and surgical and General Wards. The other issue is the ridiculous way public hospitals are funded based on the shortest stay possible and turnover of cases. Commonly called Case Mix. Bring back Hospital Based with University backup Training ensuring ALL Nurses are good at the BASICS first. All professions require a strong and competent foundation managed by commonsense curriculums snd careful vetting of Students. Not all Students can handle real Nursing...... it's more than challenge it's a committed vocation..... not suited to many people. Add to this an Ageing Demographic of very unhealthy Baby Boomers and the recipe is even more of a challenge!!!!!
