How Can You Encourage your Cat to Eat More Sustainably?

Are you choosing a cat food with a positive environmental impact? Cats have a questionable approach to sustainability. They demand frequent use of heaters, endless cardboard boxes, and they hardly help at all with the recycling. But when it comes to the choices under your control, such as their food, there is some exciting work happening and you have the option to make a more sustainable choice when shopping for your feline friend. What are your thoughts LiveTribers? How can you encourage your cat to eat more sustainably?

Cats are a problem, there are far too many, their impact on native animals and birds is significant. Cats should be licensed and only neutered cats should be available as pets. The pet industry is just a waste resources and caters for an increasing uninvolved self centred population.

cats are basically carnivores, to try and make them eat what you think is sustainable is difficult. Trying to get cats to be vegetarian is deletrious to their health, I don't know what the answer is unless your cat hunts and eats their food which is the best way of being sustainable, but to go down this path opens the issue of killing native animals although, catching mice and rats is a good thing. sorry about the rant.

In Thailand a cats diet consists of at least 50% jasmin rice. The name of a cat in Thailand is meow meow. My late wife was Thai, I miss her so much.

You must be as thick as the OP Kellie. BTW I have a sense of humour, 3 cats, and no dogs, shows who's stupid doesn't it?

The other people who replied to this are clearly dog people. It is NOT a stupid question. Doing ANYTHING sustainably is beneficial to our planet, and sustainability is of the utmost importance - if we don't lift our game, our planet will be screwed, if it's not too late already. Just because a specific example was used - cats - doesn't mean it isn't a valid question. I call FELINE DISCRIMINATION. I hope you get bitten by a cat while you crank your heater to 30°C for your incessantly barking dogs who crap on the footpath.

The person who suggested this stupid topic should get themselves a real life and either think of an adult topic or stop posting completely.
