How Can Activity Snacking Help With Type 1 Diabetes?

Walking for three minutes every half an hour could help improve blood sugar levels, a small trial presented at a diabetes charity's conference suggests. The study of 32 people with type 1 diabetes showed blood sugar levels lowered when they took regular walking breaks over a seven-hour period. It is said these "activity snacks" could offer practical, cost-free changes. Type 1 Diabetes happens when the body's immune system attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. This means the pancreas can no longer produce insulin, leading to high blood sugar levels. What are your thoughts LiveTribers? How can activity snacking help with Type 1 Diabetes?

This should apply to all types of diabetes and not just type 1.

Type 1 Diabetes affected my family with our 9 year old son being diagnosed. It is a scary disease and he and we lived a wholesome life before and after his diagnosis. It is a lifetime disease and requires constant daily care. We need a cure not another treatment!

Be more handy to know why the body attacks itself diabetes 1. If regular activity is useful all good but the real problem is pancreatic dysfunction and why!

It seems to start when they are young, so maybe an infection or even a vaccine could be the culprit. Or maybe the parents DNA that went rogue.

100% correct, also cutting eating down to 3 meals a day 6-8 hrs apart has been proven to work. Check out Dr Bergman and other USA/OZ/UK docs who have posted evidence on Utube via their clinics or Uni. There is a lot you can do, especially when you check and see that before 1970 there was no diabeties etc, but we ate REAL Food grown in garden, There was no USA rubbish coke, fast food etc. we had 3 meals and moved as there was no tv, internet of stupid phone. All this makes people sick without even knowing it.

I had a grandmother who died before I was born, I was told she had diabetics1, it was certainly around before 1970.

Exercise, while normally not doing any harm, doesn't necessarily automatically mean it will do any good. Another pointless trial that's been thought up by a researcher chasing a Government grant and it will probably never be heard about again.

Usually type 1 diabetes is due to Pancreatic Islets of Langerhans dysfunction. No amount of exercise will reverse this!

usually but not always, sugar is a killer. And seeing there was NO DIABETES prior 1970 when humans stopped excersing and stopped eating real food, etc etc, all this kills you slowly, and as there have been many people who have reversed type 1 diabetes, think you have researched enough.

That is not necessarily true. My uncle had a hereditary liver condition which to my knowledge was diagnosed in the late 1950s or definitely in the early 60s. He was diagnosed with Diabetes then. I don't know if it was Type 1 or Type 2. He lived on a farm and always "on the go", walking his cattle in for milking, checking their water troughs during the day. He walked everywhere - no horse or motorbike, no off-road vehicle. I know they grew at least part of their own vegetables and had fruit trees

So did my maternal grandmother. She also lived on a farm but had diabetics1. I don't know at what age she got it tho, but it seems to happen at younger ages mostly.
