Adaptogens and mindfulness are so 2019, make way for circadian health and energy medicine.
Health used to be about making sure you got enough fruit and veggies. Now, in 2020, health encompasses everything from meditating for anxiety to acupressure for insomnia. It seems like health and wellness trends just keep getting wilder and wilder. Here are some that you might find yourself indulging in this year.
Energy Medicine is a broad term used for a lot of different types of treatments. Ranging from Reiki, Qigong and crystal healing (yes, really). According to Medical News Today Reiki “Emerged in Japan in the late 1800’s and is said to involve the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner’s palms to their patient”. Reiki and other energy healing remedies have grown in popularity and you can expect that to continue into this new decade. Although skeptics question its scientific merit, followers believe it can help relieve emotional issues.
Alternative meats are here to stay. Sorry meat lovers, plant-based alternatives are just getting started. This trend has been chugging along, waiting for its moment to boom and that’s what’s happening right now. Be prepared for an even bigger vegetarian section complete with vegan prawns, fish and cashew cheese. Companies are also starting to steer away from soy-based products and towards other more sustainable options.
Lymphatic health. Whilst your body is doing its thing, keeping you alive and what not, it does leak while it works. This leakage is completely normal but can cause swelling and bloating and a general “puffy” feeling. Lymphatic massages are a popular way for people to help their body drain the liquid efficiently. In 2020 though, it’s going to be next level. Jade rollers for your face, dry brushing for your legs and lymphatic specific workout classes like trampoline fitness are all going to be front and centre this decade.
High tech health. Our obsession with data and information has extended to health and wellness. It’s hard to walk past someone that has a fitness tracker strapped to their wrist or someone logging their calories on an app. From here onward, it’s only going to get crazier. Wearable health as it’s dubbed can now track your heart rate, step count, sleep cycle and stress levels. We’ve never been more hungry for health information and companies like Apple and Garmin just keep giving us what we want!
LiveTribers, would you give any of these health and wellness trends a go?

I have had a watch for many years. I use it all the time. I check my sleep and heart rate each day, along with my bp. It records my bp so this is great as the gp always wants to know. I love it and wouldn’t be without it.
